Eve continues to grow...

Things are looking up for Eve

Well, Eve tipped the scales today at an astounding 16.3 kilograms. This is an incredible improvement for her in the two weeks that she's been in our care since being rescued. Her original body weight was 10 kilograms on arrival at our Animal Village.

Our friends at the New Zealand Herald ran a good article on Eve's plight and the Sunday News online version of the story is here.

Ok, I'm bored now... let's go play!

Once again, Auckland SPCA thanks everyone who has been sending in donations via our website for Eve's care and the prosecution fund for her and the other animals in our care. We really appreciate it, since we receive no automatic government funding for our Society. If you would like to help us with a donation, there are several ways you can do so:

  • Subscribe to our HOPE® automatic pledge programme online, where an automatic donation is made once a month via your credit card.

  • Call 0900 99SPCA (0900 997722) to make a one-off $25 donation which will be billed to your Telecom account.

  • Post your donation to Auckland SPCA, Freepost 189573, PO Box 43-221, Mangere, Manukau 2153.

  • Make a donation online with your credit card, directly to Eve's Appeal.

Remember, all donations over $5 are tax deductible, so if you would like a receipt, please ensure you include your full name and address details with your donation.

On behalf of Eve and all the animals in our care - Thank You For Your Support!

I wonder if Eve's "owners" know that this blog exists. I hope that when they are found that they are shown on the front page of all papers, because if you show complete disregard of an animal's life, you'll have no qualms doing the same to a human.
The mistreating of Eve makes me so sad, but the goodness of the SPCA and all its supporters makes it better.
I hope she goes to a happy home with lots of cuddles and bowls of yummy bikkies and chew toys and a snuggly basket to snooze in. xx

Just proves that dogs are people and people are dogs

If the SPCA knows where the owners are, why are they not having them arrested instead writing them a letter as reported in todays paper. Surely more action can be taken than a piece of paper.

What an amazing turnaround - kudos to the volunteers and staff at the SPCA - amazing the level of forgiveness in an animal that has been treated so atrociously - let the full extent of the law come down hard on those responsible - and Eve get the justice she so richly deserves. To the lucky person whose life she will undoubtedly enrich - it will be a great
story to follow.
To those that are responsible you should feel shame - however given the pain and anguish you have subjected this poor creature to - shame and remorse are obviously just words in a dictionary to you.

Oh my God!! Wee Eve is looking so much better! Well done to the caring people at the SPCA.I can't wait to see Eve adopted into the loving home she so desperately deserves. The only thing that will give me more satisfaction is seeing the so called "ex owners" being prosecuted to the full extent of the law, jail them!!!

lashez says it all Eve you are beautiful and how anyone could do this is beyond me. It still breaks my heart to see your photo's.. my two children saw them and they were so quiet, they can't understand that everyone doesn't love and treat their pets like we do. Good luck Eve

I breaks my heart to see someone would even think of animal abuse on any scale, if I could I would adopt Eve but we don't have enough yard space for a dog of her size.

Good luck in your new home Eve
