A New Year brings a New Beginning for Eve...

Eve continues to improve. She weighed-in at 13.7 kilograms today - a huge improvement on her 10 kg when she arrived at the SPCA Village on Christmas Eve - still underweight, but she's slowly coming right. We've discovered that she's a little 'head-shy' with some males; i.e. lifting a hand near her head makes her cringe slightly. We think it's a learned behaviour from expecting the worst whenever a hand is raised near her.

She's quickly learning that here at the Village, our Staff and Volunteers are only raising their hand to give her a scratch behind the ear or under her chin...

Eve doing the rounds of the Village

Here Eve pays a visit to our office, while 'doing the rounds' of the Village on one of her many walks. This is done partly because it's good socialisation for Eve to meet as many friendly faces as possible, but mostly it's done because everyone at the Village keeps asking, "How's Eve doing today? Is she good? How's her weight? Still improving?", and so on. We found that it was much easier for her to just have a walk around and show everyone :)

"Okay, I've seen everyone in this office, gotten heaps of pats
and treats and I'm bored with these guys, so now it's time to go
find someone else to make a fuss over me, please..."

"Good morning everyone. Sorry to keep you waiting..."

Fantastic to see Eve doing so well and looking so much better. This can only be due to the wonderful care and support she is receiving. I can see that Eve is treated like royalty so what more is there to say! Well done Auckland SPCA.

I am a cat lover but can't bear to see any animal harmed in any way. The heartless scumbags that did this MUST be caught. I onle hope the NZ Judicial system is not so 'PC correct' that is low-life spawn of Satan get away with a fine. Do the same to them.

To you Eve - you are an inspiration to us all. I cry every time I think of what you have been through. Keep improving little one.

To the SPCA - outstanding work in aiding Eve's recovery.

Happy New Year to U Eve & to all Staff @ SPCA AKLD. It's absolutely orsum to see Eve making great recovery. As a dog owner/lover, it's very upsetting & makes me angry that humans can be so cruel, some wonder y they bite & develop behavourial problems, b'cos some Scum-Assholes etc... teach them that! I'm amazed with Eve's temperament that she's trusting enough to give humans another chance. It's incredible!

All the best to U Eve for a Safe & Happy Life when U meet your new adopted family.

PS: Wish it was me!
